Tequila the Buffon's Macaw [Ara ambigua] Ara (strong) ambigua (doubtful) aka Great Green Macaw

Tequila was hatched June 4, 2001 by Ingrid & Jim Davis of Twin Willows Aviary. I started visiting her on a weekly basis in July. Her homecoming day was December 1, 2001, at which time she was being handfed 75cc of formula a day., plus Harrison's HPC pellets, baked sweet potatoes, boiled carrots, and assorted nuts.

She is very playful, but also very sassy with her brothers and sisters. She is definitely the BOSS.

Even as a chick, she was big. At 4 months old, she weighed more than Serrano. Today (1/3/06) She weighs in at 1,535 grams.

She's quite a handful -- even back then!

Her lime-green color is striking!

The pictures below were taken at Twin Willows indoor flight aviary which includes a waterfall among other attractions.
Tequila and her brother love to play in the water. They both get really wet!!

Here are Tequila's parents in their private flight. They weren't too fond of having their pictures taken.

Notice the blushing on thier face. This is a sign of excitement.
